Source: "Surry County Virginia Deeds 1684-1733" by William Lindsay Hopkins. On 7 Sept 1686 Thomas, aged 34, stated that Richard Hyde worked at the mill; probably belonging to Richard Williamson. This is the same Richard Hide that deeded land to Thomas' son Thomas Wiggins in 1699. "Wills & Adminstrations of Surry County, Virginia 1671-1750" by Eliza Timberlake Davis, published 1980 by Genealogical Publishing Co Inc of Baltimore. His will was dated 31 Jan 1710 and probated 25 February 1710. "Claremont Manor: A History" by Eve S Gregory published in 1990 by Lewis Kirby and the Plummer Printing Co Inc of Petersburg, VA. On 7 March 1699 Thomas bought 100 acres from Richard Hide in Surry County; (this land was later sold by his son Richard to William Cocke on 21 May 1718) it was part of a 450 acre patent. It is referred to in the book as part of Tract 19.

Surry Land Grants 1710-1740 (These grants were south of the Blackwater in what is now Sussex County). Thomas Wiggins was granted 350 acres in 1714 and 150 acres in 1725. Edward E. Wiggins was proxy for Thomas, for all ordinances.
