DAR RECORDS NATIONAL NUMBER #189648 list Edw. Maxey, d 4/19/1737 will, b. abt 1670 m. Susannah HENRICO CO., VA., MINUTE BOOK., 1719-24 P 56, 366. In 1720 in Henrico Edward Maxey was paid 100 pounds of tobacco for one wolr's head killed by his negros EDWARD MAXEY'S WILL 20 MAY 1740. In the name of God Amen. I, Edward Maxey of Goochland County, being at this present writing in perfect sence and memory and knowing the uncertainty of this mortal life do make this my last will and testament in manner and form as followeth. First, I bequeath my soul into the hands of Almighty God from whom I recived my first breath and my body to the earth from whence I was first taken to be buried at the discretion of my executors hereafter named and as to what temporal estate God hath been leased to bestow on me, I give an bequeath as followeth. First, I give unto my son John Maxey one parcel of lany lying on the north branch of Jones Creek as a line struck as followeth; Beginnina at the bark line a corner black oak, a corner pine and a pink hickory from thence to the mouth of School House Branch to a corner poplar and a black gum, from thence down the main branch to a corner black gum, I give and bequeath to the foresaid John Maxey induring his life and after his decease to his two sons, Sampson Maxey and Edward Maxey, the sons of John Maxey and Sarah his wife, and in case one of them dies, the other to possess the whole parcel of land, otherwise to be equally divided between them, to them and their heirs forever.. I give to my son, William Maxey the remainder of that track of land it joining upon William Lansdon and John Smith, to him and his heirs forever. I give to my loving wife Susannah, the land she now lives upon and plantation during her mortal life, after her decease the whole track to be divide between my two sons Walter and Silvanus to them and their heirs forever. My will is that they may live on the said land not molesting my wife aforsaid, my son Walter to have that part joining upon John Radford's line which was William Barnes. I give to my son Nathaniel, one feather bed and bolster. I give to my granddaughter Susannah Ratford one feather bed and bolster I give to John Dunin a yung mare of three years old when the said John Dunkin doth come of age. And all the other of my estate both real and personal after my debts and funeral charges paid, I give to my loving wife and to her disposing, and I make and constitue my loving wife Susannah and my son William executors of this my last will and in witness whereof I have set to my hand and fixed my seal ye 18 dayof April 1737 Witnesses: John Capper, Henry Byrom, and John Mossorn At a Court held for Goochland County May 20 1740. This will was proved by the oaths of John Mossorn and John Capper to be theact and deed of Edward Maxey
