Richard ROBINS
SOURCES: 1. Family group sheet and comprehensive documentation received 30 Apr 1983 from Gordon Robins, Layton, UT. 2. Records in the Ancestral File (ver C410). 3. Archive Record sheet submitted by Elisabeth R. Smith, Layton, UT, citing James Robins Temple Records as source (James Robins was son of Richard Robins and gathered genealogical data on a trip to England prior to the opening of the Logan LDS Temple; oldest son Edmund Robins, Sr., was the proxy for the temple endowment ceremony). James Robins kept a book of the records of the temple work. 4. TIB Card to Logan LDS Temple Records #4519, Book B, Pg 128 BIRTH: Date of 8 Jan 1783 shown on TIB, based on information supplied to the Logan LDS Temple apparently is incorrect with 1782 as the correct year, since christening was in 1782. Place of birth shown on TIB is Fiddington, which is in the Ashchurch Parish, Gloucestershire, England. Archive Record sheet shows Treadington, Gloucs., Eng. as place of birth. CHRISTENING: Date and place found in parish record search by Genealogical Society, according to 18 Apr 1958 letter from Henry E. Christiansen, Research Department, to Faye R. Brown. This information has been verified by Gordon Robins. MARRIAGE: Date of 1 Dec 1808 shown on TIB apparently is incorrect, with Ashchurch Parish records showing that Richard Robins signed the marriage register on 12 Dec 1808 for marriage to Anne Fulwell. Banns for this marriage were published on 13, 20 and 27 Nov 1808, according to parish records. BAPTISM: Apperly LDS Branch records indicate that Richard Robins was baptized in 1841 and cut off 6 Dec 1842, according to Gordon Robins. Apparently he was rebaptized as a member of the church before leaving for America. EMIGRATION TO USA: Richard Robins, age 67, and wife Ann, age 65, sailed from Liverpool, Eng. to America with son Thomas and family in 1848 on ship Sailor Prince, under the direction of L. D. Butler. The ship landed at New Orleans on 20 Nov 1848. DEATH: He died in St. Louis, MO two months after landing in the USA, en route from New Orleans to meet other members of the Church at Winter Quarters.
AFN: B68S-27 SOURCES: See sources listed for husband, Richard Robins. Family group sheet for parents, James Fulwell and Elizabeth Greaves, prepared by William H. Lomax, Salt Lake City, UT. SPELLING OF NAME: Name used for christening was Nancy Fullwell. She used Ann (or Anne) as her given name, however. It was spelled as Anne on the marriage record, but she apparently could not read or write and signed the marriage record with her mark. The surname apparently was spelled either as Fulwell or as Fullwell, depending upon who was doing the recording. BIRTH AND CHRISTENING: TIB Card shows birthplace as Peusham, Gloucester, Engl. and Peusham is an obvious misspelling of Pensham, a hamlet within St. Andrew's Parish in Penshore, Worcestershire, England--not to be confused with Pershore, Worcestershire, England, which is served by Holy Cross Church and is located immediately to the north of Penshore. The birthdate of 16 June 1781-2 was added to the TIB card by a different typewriter. According to Gordon Robins, the records of St. Andrew's Parish show her christening on 23 Jun 1782 as Nancy Fullwell, daughter of James and Elizabeth of Pensham. BAPTISM: Since the Apperly LDS Branch records indicate two defferent baptisms for Ann Robins (one born 1821 and baptized 1 Apr 1840 by Daniel Browett, died 1 Jan 1841; one born 1820 and baptized 28 Jun 1840 by Edward Phillips, rebaptized 31 Jan 1847 by John Johnson), one could be for this person. More likely, the first one is for her daughter and the second is for daughter-in-law Ann or Anna Johnson, wife of son Thomas Robins, who was 27 when coming to the USA in 1848. EMIGRATION TO THE USA AND CROSSING PLAINS TO UTAH: See notes for husband, Richard Robins. After her husband died in St. Louis, she continued her travels to Utah with her son Thomas and his family, spending her last years in Kaysville, UT. DEATH AND BURIAL: According to Gordon Robins, she is buried in the plot of her son James in the Kaysville-Layton Memorial Cemetery. Her burial is the first entry listed in the records of that cemetery.
