Abner Fogg, Esq., was very prominent in church and town affairs, being Assessor in 1745, 1753, 1757, 1761, and 1765; Surveyor in 1748 and 1750; Selectman in 1751-2.  During the French and Indian War, he was made Captain in 1757, and commanded the 5th Co. of the Cavalry consisting of 45 men, 1754-1763. In No. Hampton, June 7, 1776, he signed the Association Test.  His will was made April 28, 1788 and entered for probate Feb. 3, 1789. He gives his children 5 shillings and his wife the rest of the estate. She was made executrix but refused the trust."

    town-house stands, as did also his sons Abner and Samuel R., but all moved
    eventually to North Hampton.  Captain Fogg lived where Richard Taylor now lives
    in North Hampton. . . . "

According to family tradition, the family travelled through the wilderness, over rough road, and blazed a trail to Ossipee, on the south side of Fogg's Ridge.  They feiled trees and burned over the ground for an acre of corn, and in 1782 built a rough log cabin.  He also lived in Leavittown.  She was in the Rev. War in Capt. Simeon Marston's Company in 1776, as was his father, Capt. Abner Fogg.  Seth signed the Association Test."
