Edmund HOBART

    There is some doubt that Edmund's father was really the Thomas Hobart identified, ie, the book by L. Smith Hobart identifies only two sons, Sir Henry and Sir Miles. However, if such was the case, Edmund would have been a younger brother of Sir Henry Hobart, owner of Blickling Hall. Beal suggests that Edmund's parents were another Thomas Hobart/Hubbard who was married to Helena Winsofer/Wimpser, and identifies a brother of Edmund named Andrew; this family was purportedly from Snoring Magna Parish, now called Great Snoring, 12 miles West of Plumstead. Burke's Peerage speaks of the US branch of the Hobart family descended from Sir James Hobart as arriving in America in 1633, the year of Edmund's arrival.
