    BIOGRAPHY: Came from England about 1637, and settled at Nobscussett (Later
    called  Dennis), in Yarmouth, in March 1639. They were in Salem,
    Massachusetts,  two years before, or in 1637, where they first landed.

    They brought with them three sons, Joseph, Thomas and Jeremiah, the last  born
    on the passage over or soon after arrival.

    It is well established that he was a man physically strong and robust, of 
    good moral character, possessed a fair education, and was largely endowed 
    with good common sense. That his character and standing was excellent in  the
    community where he lived, is proved by the prominent part he took in  the
    formation of the township where he located, and the many official  duties he
    was elected to perform in the work of perfecting and developing  its interests.
