Josiah BUTTS
BIOGRAPHY: Josiah Butts is our next in line. He served two enlistments in the revolution although he was an old man. His seven sons and ten grandsons were also in service. Just for the record, his wife was Elizabeth Williams, whose mother was a Lawrence and a descendant of Sir Lawrence. Richard I conferred arms on him for bravery in scaling the walls of Acre in 1191 during the Crusades.
He married Elizabeth Williams 25 Oct 1729 at Canterbury, Windham, Connecticut . Elizabeth Williams was born at Plainfield, Windham, Connecticut 16 Oct 1711 daughter of Joseph Williams and Susanna Lawrence .
