Notes:
                       The Temple Workers have guessed that he was born in Seghill,
    Northumberland, only because his wife was born there. Their
    assumptions also carry on to his parents' birth and marriage place.

    Gateshead, Co. Durham.  No. 33.  On 21 DEC 1871.  James Noble Nesbitt;

    Newcastle at time of marriage; Son of William Noble Nesbitt (deceased)
    who had been a Boot Maker.  AND   Elizabeth Russell; age 23; spinster;

Birth:

Notes:
                       From census information she was born in Leghill, Northumberland but
    there isn't a Leghill, only a Seghill. - perhaps I thought it was Leghill
    because of the strange script, but I've since discovered that what I
    thought was an 'L' in a particular script is actually an 'S'.

    BIRTH: From census info she was born in 1847/48. From marriage cct
    she was born in 1848 or between 22 DEC 1847 and 31 DEC 1847.

Notes:
                       The Temple Workers have assumed that she was born in Durham.

    Heard from mum and other relatives that she became a nun in Worthing.
    Susan and I went there and found the convent - The Sisters of Mercy -
    and spoke to one of the sisters there who had known her. Her new name
    in the convent was Sister Mary Barbara (all nuns get the first name of
    Mary). She was a beautiful, gentle lady.
    After going to the Sister's of Mercy convent at Westbrooke in Worthing,
    I wrote to General Archives, Institute of Our Lady of Mercy, Aprker's
    Row, Bermondsey, London SE1 2DQ, Tel. No. - 01-237-1098 and received
    a reply on 4 SEP 1990.  It reads :
    Dear Mrs. Kloosterboer, I'm afraid that the information we have about
    Sister Barbara Nesbitt is very sparse. She was born 25 FEB 1875 and as
    you know was baptised Elizabeth but always went by the name Lizzie.
    She was the daughter of Janes and Elizabeth Nesbitt. We have no record
    of her place of birth but perhaps you know that already. She entered
    this convent on 16 JAN 1897 and made her vows, after the usual
    probation period, on 5 MAY 1900. She was then sent to the convent in
    Worthing where she remained for the rest of her life. We do not have
    here in the Institute Archives any documents such as birth certificates,
    professional qualifications or even lettters. She would have, no doubt,
    taken them with her to Worthing. They would probably have been
    destroyed on her death. I hope the few details I have been able to supply
    will be helpful in compiling your family's history. Yours sincerely
    Sister Teresa Green.
