time of marriage; son of Thomas Oswald Small who was an artist. AND
Mary Ann Rochfort; age 21 years; spinster; resident at 28 Gibson Street,
Newcastle at the time of marriage; daughter of Thomas Robert Rochfort
who was an Inland Revenue Officer. In the presence of Anthony H. Brown
and Jane Teresa Rochfort. Marriage performed by Robert Paul Stapleton,
priest. Registrar was John Routledgy.
Jane Teresa Rochfort was most probably not the mother of Mary because
at the time of their marriage she was remarries to William Dodds and
probably went by the name of Jane Dodds. Plus Teresa didn't appear on
her birth or both marriage entries/certificates.
CENSUS: In 1851 census he was 10 months old, in 1861 he was 10 years
old, in 1871 he was unmarried, 20 years old, a (woolen) merchants clerk
and he was born in Newcastle.
In 1891 census, ref no. RG12/4176/pg114 at 1 Claremont Place,
Gateshead, in the parish of St. Cuthbert.

1871 but Mary Anne from parish records for birth and christening. She
was a governess.

county of Durham. No. 133. Born on 13 SEP 1875 at Batey Terrace. Jane
Theresa [on marriage cct it is Teresa]; daughter of Tom Small (a clerk at
a newspaper office) and Mary Ann Small, formerly Rochfort. Registered
on 25 OCT 1875 by Tom Small, father. Registrar was John Pattison.

I couldn't decipher whether the third name letter was L or S. After doing
the work for Mary in the temple, a few months later on modern day
typescript I saw the same letter and it is actually an 'S'.
He married Mary Anne Rochfort 31 Mar 1872 at Newcastle, Upon Tyne, Northumberland, England . Mary Anne Rochfort was born at Logierait, Perth, Scotland 22 Sep 1850 daughter of Thomas Robert Rochfort and Jane Renwick .
