HISTORICAL NOTES:
Ida Emelia Holmquist was born 20 Jan 1864 at Tranas, Sweden. Her father was John August Holmquist. He had a son John. He was married twice. His second wife was the mother of Ida Emelia. Her name was Christine Angburg, who had been previously married to a Mr. Johanson, and by whom she had two children, Ava and Hedda. By Holmquist there were two other children, Augusta, born abtout 1860, and John, born about 1862. Christine Angburg Johanson Holmquist died May 1864 when Ida Emelia was about 4 months of age. Immediately after, John Holmquist died as the result of a gun shot.

Ida Emelia was taken by her mother's sister, who kept her until she died when
Ida Emelia was about 5 years of age. The aunt had three children, a son Call,
two daughters, one named Emma, and one whose name is not remembered.

After the death of the aunt, Ida Emelia was taken by Gustav Svall and Carlotta
Peterson Svall, their only child, a son of 7 years of age, having died.

When 19 years of age, Ida Emelia came to the United States. At this time, Mr.
and Mrs. Svall were both living. Five or six years later, Mr. Svall wrote
that his wife had died. The Svalls were close neighbors of the aunt and also
the Holmquists. John, the brother, lived with neighbors and he and Ida Emelia
frequently met at Saby Church. At the age of 15, Ida Emelia was chosen leader
of the singing at Saby Church.

Ida Emelia worked at Catorp, Scruba, and at Holingstorp. When she first went
out, Emma Swartz went to live with the Svalls. Later, the two of them went
together to America, where Emma's mother and brother had preceded them.

Gustav Svall borrowed money from the bank to assist Ida Emelia to pay for
    transportataion to America, about 1883.

It is believed that Ida Emelia had Lucile sealed to her and her first husband,
Charles Oscar Gottlin 10 August 1986 in SL Temple. She was divorced from Thomas
    Brown by about 1913.
