After the death of the aunt, Ida Emelia was taken by Gustav Svall and Carlotta Peterson Svall, their only child, a son of 7 years of age, having died. When 19 years of age, Ida Emelia came to the United States. At this time, Mr. and Mrs. Svall were both living. Five or six years later, Mr. Svall wrote that his wife had died. The Svalls were close neighbors of the aunt and also the Holmquists. John, the brother, lived with neighbors and he and Ida Emelia frequently met at Saby Church.
