    Confederate Pension application in Red River, Louisiana dated oct 8, 1898. In this application he states the following: That he was born in 1840 in Pointe Coupee, La. He enlisted in Opolusas, La. in 1861, 7th Louisiana Calvary, Company "E" contrary to his tombstone which says Co "C". He stated that his wife was dead and that he has one male and one female child, ages 9 and 12. One born 1886 and one 1889. He stated he has lived in Louisiana in Pointe Coupee, St. Landry and Red River Parishes. The letter attached stated that he was still living on the 1910 Census and was 71 yrs old.

    Hooper after Layfield and there was a third child, Lizzie? HOWEVER: HER GRAND
    SAID   SHE WAS TOLD SHE DIED 3 DAYS AFTER HER DAUGHTER "PET" WAS BORN, AND THAT
    IS   WHY FRANK AND MILDRED RAISED PET.
