A Letter Written By Raymond Jan 18.1935, from omaha nebraska. Dear Sir, Yours of Jan 17 arrived today and to tell the truth I had no idea that it was a case of another not interested. Glade you wrote. So many do not care. A monarchyis a history of its Kings, but a history of a republic, is a history of its people. Thanks alot for answering, and if you can correct or add to anything, Itell you please do so.My sources of information are so varied and so many thatI have made no no effect to keep track of, where or how I obtained my information only doing my best to verify everything at best I could and correcting when I discover an error, I think I can give you a pretty fair line on your family and I hope you will fill in any gaps that you can. Do you know your grandfathers and grandmothers names? can you give me the names of your father's brother's? As for myself I am of the Ohio branch, origin as most of the clevenger's from Virginia, The Clevenger's are almost all light and blue eyes, the bloodis strong and comes thru any brunette strain with whom they may marry. There is no doubt in my mind but that all the U.S. Clevenger's are from the same parent stock, One physical characteristic is the height of the hair line in th forehead, often the v where the hair is parted running far back even the young people. As a foreward let me say that the Clevenger's are of the average run ofpeople, some bad, many good.some have reached the heights and some have sunk to the depths. From the great minds of Shobal Vail Clevenger one who can go down to the hillbilly country Clevenger's of the blue ridge, who can neither readnor write and whose proudest boast is that they are the best fist fighters inthe world They take in lots of territory but they believe it. In my branch none have been hung--- yet but I could name two or three that should be. One was tried for murder, and I believe the killing was the only good deed he ever did, some are doctors, lawyers, businessman large ans small, many are farmers, and to quote Judge William Clevenger of Dayton Ohio"Some have sunk so low that they made them judges " As you may want to keep, correct or add to what I can give you, I will write it apart from this, thanks again and may I hear from you again yours R.A. Clevenger
