NAME: Rhodes aka Roth
George entered the Union service on 13 Aug 1862, became a Corporal, Co. D, 118the Ohio Volunteer Infantry, and died of typhoid fever at Lexington, Kentucky. Buried in Soldier's Cemetery at Lexington, Grave #426, 3rd in 10th Circle. He was the last soldier to be buried there. (Rimers of Pennsylvania and Ohio, by George Griffiths)
Daniel Rimer was a veteran of the Civil War and fought in Pickets Charge at Gettysburg (Union side).
He married Elizabeth Ruth Rhodes 28 Feb 1838 at Putnam, Ohio . Elizabeth Ruth Rhodes was born at Franklin, Ohio 21 Jul 1816 daughter of Peter Rhodes and Catherine Hoffman .
