1850 Census Kanawha co, Va (WVa) shows him 21 and a laborer and livingin the home of his parents, Henry and Sarah.  Letter of oct 25, 1968from grandson, Wain Hicholas, gave Shirley Moore Brennan the names ofchldren , dates of birth, death, etc.  Wain also says Francis was aschool teacher. At age 50 shown as sawmill worker in 1880 census.
