SOURCES: 1. Family Records LESLIE C. LANE Succumbs At 70 Funeral services have been scheduled Thursday at 2 p.m. for Leslie C. Lane, 70, longtime resident of the Otero-Lincoln county area, who passed away at Gerald Champion Memorial Hospital Tuesday after a six-day hospitalization. Rites will be conducted at the Mullins-Hamilton chapel by the Rev. William Huey of Tularosa, with interment to follow in Monte Vista Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rex V. Lane, Roger Dale Lane, John R. Grisak, Fred Tidwell, Phil Fifer and Jack Parker. Honorary pallbearers will include Shortie Buie, Hubert Herndon, Carl Hansen, Ralph Morgan, Jim Howard, Claude Read and Linn Ellison. Friends may call at the funeral home until 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until service time on Thursday. A native of Brownwood, Tex., where he was born Feb. 10, 1896, Mr. Lane moved to Capitan with his parents as a small boy. He moved tgo Otero county at the age of 20 with his wife Jennie and worked in the lumber industry in the Sacramento Mountains for a number of years. In the earlay 1950s, he joined the Holloman AFB fire department, remaining with that association until his retirement in 1958. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Jennie A. Lane, of the family home at 503 Seventh Street; three sons, Rex V. Lane, Gene Lane and Norman Lane, all of Alamogordo; a brother, Bill Lane of Newberry, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Grace O'Dell of Casa Grande, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
