    John Elmer Briner, oldest son of Henry and Catherine Simpson Briner, was born
    February 12 1874 in Superior Township, Montpelier, Ohio, and passed away
    September 29, 1950, aged 76 years, at his home in Bridgewater township where he
    had resided for 47 years.

    On August 12, 1903, he was united in marriage to Hattie Amelia Haines who
    survives him with their eight children: Lucy Hilton, Viola Briner, Monroe,
    Ellsworth, Bernice Briner, Eleanor Lesnet, Donna Goshorn and Vivian Alexander;
    13 grandchildren; one brother, Clyde; two sisters, Alice Youse and Corall
    Griffith. A sister Lydia preceded him in death.

    He was a member of the West Eagle Creek Presbyterian church, where he was
    faithful in attendance, interest and service.
