He was a labourer. Baptised into the church on 15 Nov 1849 by Willet Harder
according to Southampton Conference records (film 0087032). He was living in
Bishopstoke at the time he was baptised. He emmigrated from England at age 53,
with his family, leaving Liverpool on 11 Apr 1859 on the ship "William
Tapscott". They crossed the plains with George Rawley's handcart company. In
the first part of September, 1859, William, Henry, Thomas, Eliza, Mary, Sarah,
and Henry's wife, Jane, and his two children, were met in Echo by William's
brother, Henry B. Wild, and by William's other sons John and Fred. They came
to Coalville, but went on to Sugar House for the winter. They had come by hand
carts and Jane had pulled a hand cart all the way across the plains. They
arrived in Sugar House the sixth of September, and on the ninth, Jane gave
    birth to a baby boy.
