        Research done by Marie Lewis 21 Jan 2000 produced a document stating the marriage date of James Gwyther and Mary Doyle.  This document is in possession of William Wilcox.  James and Mary's daughter Jane was about to be born a month after their marriage date.  Marie Lewis states that this kind of common-law marriage was fairly frequent in these early years, especially among those who were not landowners.
Other documents in William Wilcox's possession show a birth of a second child Mary that was born and died the same month and a third child, both named Mary.
