Sir James Stanley was Knight of Cross Hall and Marshall of Ireland "The title of Earl of Derby, with Knowsley, Halewood, Bury, and other manors, went to the male heir of the second earl, through Sir James Stanley of Cross Hall. He had a numerous family, including Henry Stanley of Aughton, who married Margaret, daughter and heiress of Sir Peter Stanley of Bickerstaffe, and was succeeded in 1598 by his son, Edward, created a baronet by Charles I in 1627." (The Victoria History of the County of Lancaster, by William Farrer [The Victoria History of the Counties of England , 8 volumes], London: A. Constable, 1906-1914, FHL book Q942 H2vL; FHL microfilm #924, 139-924, 14., vol. 3, p. 165)
Will dated 20 July 1598. Henry Stanley died three days later, but his public funeral did not take place until three weeks later, on 16 August 1598. Note: "The Complete Baronetage" states that Henry's wife's name was Mary. But the Marriage record identifies her as Margaret. Note: Some sources give Henry's birth as 1515. However, his mother, Anne Hart, was married first to Edmund Talbot, who died in 1520, and she married Henry Stanley after that date. This means that their first child was probably not born until about about 1523, which discredits the 1515 birth date.
He married Anne Hart 1510 at Aughton, Lancashire, England . Anne Hart was born at Lullingstone, Kent, England Abt 1495 daughter of John Hart and Elizabeth Peche .
