RESEARCH NOTE: Abstract of will included in notes. John wrote his will June 22, 1822 in Greene Co., TN. At that timehestates he was very weak in body. This is an excerpt from his will.I give and bequeath unto my daughter Anna Davis one hundred and fifty dollars which she has received of her portion. I bequeath tomydaughter Eliza Pansell fifty dollars which she has received and I also give unto her one hundred dollars more to be equally divided amongst her daughters at their arrival at a lawful age to receive it. I bequeath to my son John Delaney the sum of one dollar. I bequeath to my daughter Easter deceased and her heirs one hundred and fifty dollars whichin her lifetime she received of her portion. I bequeath to my daughterMargaret deceased and her heirs one hundred dollars which she in her lifetime received of her portion and I also give unto her two daughters Peggy and Ruth fifty dollars to be equally divided between them at their coming of age. I bequeath to my son Daniel Delaney the sum of one dollar. I give to my son Jacob Delaney the sum of on dollar. I give to my daughter Sara Gann eighty seven dollars which she has received of her portion and I also give unto her sixty three dollars to be equally divided between her two daughters Jimmy and Mamelia when they shall be of lawful age toreceive it. I bequeath to my son Isaac Delaney the sum of forty dollars tobe paid by my Executors out of my Estate. I bequeath to my daughter Ruth Gannone hundred and fifty dollars which she hath recieved of her portion.I bequeath to my daughter Jimmy Kennedy one hundred dollars which she had received of her portion and also give unto her fifty Dollar more to be equally divided between her two daughters Emeline and Maria when they shall be lawful age to recieve it. I bequeath to my son Daniel Delaney the sum of one dollar. I bequeath to my son Wesley Delaney Ido hereby ratify and confirm the deeds of conveyance for the several pieces of lands by my executed to my sons John Delaney, David Delaney, Jacob Delaney, IsaacDelaney, Daniel Delaney and Wesley Delaney to remain in full force and VirtueI also bequeath the sum of twenty dollars to be paid out of my Estate after my decease by my Executors for the purchasing of the gospel in the Methodist communion to be paid in yearly payments of two dollars per year until the twenty dollars of aforesaid shall all be paid out.I also will that the surplus money arisisng from my personal Estate after paying of the above legacies to be equally divided amonst my daughers that is to say Ann shall have one seventy part, Elisabeth daughters shall draw her part, Easters daughter shall draw her part, Margarets daughters shall draw her part.
