Notes:
Name: Jameson/Jamison James Jameson "distinguished himself by personal bravery and military prowess while he was a young man, at the Battle of the Boyne (1690) and in other engagements; attracted the attention of William III, who as a reward of merit conferred on him the honorary title of "Sir Knight," which entitled him to wear a coat of arms as a distinguishing feature. Twenty-three years later, in the last year of hte reign of "Good Queen Anne," who was the last reigning monarch of the house of Stuart, in 1713, James Jameson embarked with his family of seven children for America. He was held up by Blackbeard the pirate in mid-ocean, who divested him of his coat of arms." Tradition says that "James Jameson grieved more over the loss of his outer garment than all his property, and when he arrived at "the land of the free and home of the brave," he was a "poorer, but a wiser man."
