NOTES:
    David grew up in Mercer PA. Aug 1861 enlisted Company K, 61st Penn. Volunteers. Severely wounded while carrying the colors. He lay in the Hospital eight months, and at the end of fourteen months was honorably discharged as unfit for service. He followed his trade until 1873 - of carriage trimiming. Then he bought McDowell interest in a Carriage Company and Cooke and Ford. Carriage Manufacturers was formed. He became sole proprietor in Oct 1884 and in Jan 1886 - R.E. Thorn joined him and firm of Ford and Thorn was established. He and wife are Presbyterians. He is Republican in Politics and member of Masonic Franternity and G.A.R.
