    1. Soldier - Powder Maker - 2nd son of his parents
    2. 3 June 1775 he became Colonel of Militia - Morris, NJ (Battalion of 800 officers and men he commanded)
    3. The younger Jacob built forges and home at Mt. Hope (a mansion) near Morristown, NJ
    4. They cast shot and shell for Washington's Army. He beat off British Raids on Morristown and captuired much material.
    5. While repelling Leslie's Brigade - 17 Dec 1776 - he caught mortal cold and fell from his horse while on Parade Dec 31.  Died 11 days later of Pneumonia, was buried beside his father in the 1st Presbyterian Churchyard, and had a military funeral.
    7. 18 Dec 1795 County Court ordered half-pay for his widow (from 19 Jan 1777) Father - Executer - of her husband's estate.
