NOTES:
    1. Bani Bartlett, medium height, very straight and of excellent proportions- generally spoken of as a handsome man.  His complexion was rather light; in advanced years - was quite bald on his head.  A man of few words- a very even disposition - In dealing with other people, he used firmness and dignity and good sense.  He was always self-possessed and never allowed himself to exhibit passion or feelings - People said ,"there was never an unkind word or unkind scolding or harsh expression ever excape from his lips."  For more than 20 years he was Deputy Sheriff of Providence County, RI.  His name appears on amy wills, because of his Business capacity, many of his neighbors friends and relatives
    2. Wife Philadelphia Pickering, medium height, rather dark complexion, fair and plump, beautiful dark eyes and was a very charming appearance and of a delightful disposition.  Youngest daughter of her parents, loving mother and a real helpmate as a wife, being gifted with unusual qualities of heart and mind.  she had a sympathetic nature, a real joy to be around.
    3. Bani Bartlett, lived a while with wife's parents in Bellingham until he built his house on the hill.  The land he built his house on was inherited fromhis father.  He built a dam across the brook, just below the house and built a Scythe Shop.  He made scythes, sending them to Boston and other towns to sell them.  All of his sons learned the trade and assisted him.  After many years he gave up the shop and trade moving back on the hill.
    4. This couple were married at Samuel Pickering's house. Marriage was published 6 December 1801.
    4. Bani Bartlett died at age 63, because water came into house through a lead pipe. Buried by the side of his wife, and his mother, son Eber buried there also.  There is one vacant space and then a little grave of Edwin S. Bartlett (infant son of Bani's daughter Sarah and her husband George Tingley) the next space is Sarah -wife of George Tingley and a little daughter Phila (age 2 months) next to her, then Bani's sister Saloma is also buried there.

NOTES: 
    1. Eber Bartlett , Medium height, erect and well formed, with fine dark brown hair, dark eyes, and a light complextion.  Also bearing regular features and very fair, clear skin, he was called a good-looking man. He was warm-hearted, quick, and impulsive. Also very generous,sympathetic, and always ready and willing to lend a helping hand in sickness or misfortune. No one, in distress, ever applied to him in
vain for counsel or relief.
    2. He was a zealous temperance advocate. He worked hard in his field  and did much good. Like his kinsman, the good and pious old Quaker,  Moses of Providence, who, when he sold land, stipulated that no strong drink be sold on the premises. He never enquired whether it  would pay or stopped to count the cost when dealing with the evils of intemperence.  In his family, he was the most kind and affectionate of husbands, and a tender, loving parent. No sacrifice was too great to make for  the benefit of his children.
    3. Eber and his wife lived near the Livin Bartlett homestead in Cumberland, while there Eber Bartlett manufactured Scuthes with his father.  After a while, he moved to Laurel Ridge, Burrillville, working for a firm named Bartlett and Faxon, there he manufactured the cotton warp, While living on "Edward Hotchkiss Farm" in Smithfield, near a Quaker meeting house, son Thomas Edward was born.
    4. In the fall of 1848, he moved with his family to Fayette, ME, it was there that he manufactured Scthes with R.B. Dunn, here two of his children attended school at the Maine Wesleyan Seminary, one mile from Fayette. He later returned to Providence, RI where he died. - Buried at "Elder Ballou Buring Ground  in Cumberland-by side of his mother, father, aunt Saloma, sister Sarah and grandmother Zibiah. [A quote:]  "Thank God for one dead friend,  With face still radiant with the light of truth,  Whose love comes laden with the scent of youth,  Through twenty years of death."
    5.  Child #1 drown in Fall River, buried 5 miles from New Bedford,  MA

    1. Varnum Bartlett,quiet and modest habits, respected by all, 'never married'.  Lived with sister Maria Bartlett Sweet, had a boot and shoe business in Blackstone, MA. Died at sister's home buried in Blackstone Cemetery.

NOTES: Husb worked in grocery trade at first. He accumulated a large fortune.
          Has been honored by his townsmen with many offices of trust, both city
          & state governments. Member of City Council many years.
          Wife was cousins of Carry Sweet who md. Maria Bartlett of Greenville,
          RI
          Sr. Nicholls doesn't know which son, but one is a civil engineer and
          the other a wholesale grocer.
