    1. Eber Bartlett , Medium height, erect and well formed, with fine dark brown hair, dark eyes, and a light complextion. Also bearing regular features and very fair, clear skin, he was called a good-looking man. He was warm-hearted, quick, and impulsive. Also very generous, sympathetic, and always ready and willing to lend a helping hand in sickness or misfortune. No one, in distress, ever applied to him in
vain for counsel or relief.
    2. He was a zealous temperance advocate. He worked hard in his field and did much good. Like his kinsman, the good and pious old Quaker, Moses of Providence, who, when he sold land, stipulated that no strong drink be sold on the premises. He never enquired whether it would pay or stopped to count the cost when dealing with the evils of intemperence. In his family, he was the most kind and affectionate of husbands, and a tender, loving parent. No sacrifice was too great to make for the benefit of his children.
    3. Eber and his wife lived near the Livin Bartlett homestead in Cumberland, while there Eber Bartlett manufactured Scuthes with his father. After a while, he moved to Laurel Ridge, Burrillville, working for a firm named Bartlett and Faxon, there he manufactured the cotton warp, While living on "Edward Hotchkiss Farm" in Smithfield, near a Quaker meeting house, son Thomas Edward was born.
    4. In the fall of 1848, he moved with his family to Fayette, ME, it was there that he manufactured Scthes with R.B. Dunn, here two of his children attended school at the Maine Wesleyan Seminary, one mile from Fayette. He later returned to Providence, RI where he died. - Buried at "Elder Ballou Buring Ground in Cumberland-by side of his mother, father, aunt Saloma, sister Sarah and grandmother Zibiah. [A quote:] "Thank God for one dead friend, With face still radiant with the light of truth, Whose love comes laden with the scent of youth, Through twenty years of death."
