He held many civil offices of importance both at East Windsor & Simsbury. He was a Democrat. In Simsbury, he purchased 160 acres (a tract of land) owned by Judge J. O. Phelps & there engaged in tobacco culture & general farming. He was a selectman in East Windsor & in Simsbury for over 25 years. A member of Congregational Church. Active in politics. Known for honesty. Wife was a good Christian womanj-a loving mother & wife.
He married Margaret Harper Abt 1790 at of Connecticut . Margaret Harper was born at of East Windsor, Hartford, Connecticut 7 Apr 1772 .
