NOTES: Husb commanded 25th Reg. CT Militia. He held many civil offices of
importance both at East Windsor & Simsbury. He was a Democrat. In Simsbury, he
purchased 160 acres (a tract of land) owned by Judge J. O. Phelps & there
engaged in tobacco culture & general farming. He was a selectman in East
Windsor & in Simsbury for over 25 years. A member of Congregational Church.
Active in politics. Known for honesty.
          Wife was a good Christian womanj-a loving mother & wife.

NOTES: Husb until age 24 lived at home; He bought a farm from P. E. Weston (54
acres) in Terrys Plains District. He & his wife set up housekeeping there. He
added 81 acres & now cultivates a well-improved farm of 135 acres. He had a
dairy & gen. farming & also in tobacco growing--having for over 20 years has
been an extensive dealer & packer of tobacco & also operates a cider mill for
the manufacture of vinegar. Teacher; Justice of Peace, Judge-Selectman-Deputy
Sheriff; staunch Democrat; In religious views-liberal, charitable, faithful to
principle-truth & honesty; md nearly 1/2 century.
          Wife taught school for 3 years before her marriage. Both she and her
husband trained in same schools.
          Child #10 killed abt age 10; accidentally crushed & killed by a roller.
