NOTES: Husb age 18 came to Orange, VT with his father. He was an extremely
upright & public spirited citizen. They later came to Plainfield-cultivated
farm belonging to Solomon, his grandfather; held various offices & represented
the town of Plainfield in State Legislature. A member of Methodist Church in
of Plainfield, of which he was steward for many yrs. In later years a
Republican.
          Wife was directly descended from Rev. Stephen Batchelder. He sailed
from England with several of his family on 9 Mar 1632 in ship Wm & Francis,
arriving Boston 5 Jun 1632; settled 1st Lynn, MA; later in Hampton, NH. He
decided to cast his lot with those seeking religious freedom in the new World.
