Ancestral File NOTES: Husb came from MA; famous "Bartlett Farm" near Elgin, DuPage, IL-700 acres; sheep farmer; Wife helped feed the people made homeless by Chicago fire. In 1908 there were only 6 living children; Widow Sophia survived by 6 children, 19 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren & 1 gggrandchild. Widow says on p. 5 of the above film "From the first we prospered on the farm & there were no tragic incidents to mar our life. We lived along here much as other farmers do, gradually improving our place & suffering ups & downs from the climate, which is the story of a farmer's life anywhere". Mrs. Bartlett said-although she & Luther were not relatives, they were schoolmates when they both lived in Conway, MA.

Discrepancy on wife's first given name Martha or Esther, "Obituaries (page 9) states Martha - Widow - of late B.S. Bartlett." 3. Wife is buried at Bluff Hill Cemetery, Elgin,DuPage, IL 4. Daughter Anna D or B. Bartlett, her mother died when she was age 4, she was rbought up by a Mr. & Mrs. John C. Carr of Bartlett, IL 5. Bascom Bartlett and wife Martha lost three daughter's as infants.

Bartlett, when his father died in 1882 he took charge of the farm for 25 years and held Public Offices 2. Chester D. Bartlett's first wife died after six years of Marriager in a fire, leaving three children. 3. When Chester D. Bartlett died he was survived by his wife and four children. 4. Wife Belle, survived her husband, lived in Bloomingdale, MI(formerly Morengo,Resident)
He married Sophia P. Bartlett 1844 at Hennepin, Putnam, Illinois . Sophia P. Bartlett was born at Conway, Franklin, Massachusetts 29 May 1826 daughter of Chester Bartlett and Sophia P. Pulsipher .
