He was the surveyor of highways 1702; Constable - 1706; His tax in 1707 was the largest of any one's in the town, with one exception - He bought a lot of land, He was a Justice of the Peace and other publilc offices.

Jacob Bartlett, Farmer & Blacksmith - settled at Providence, RI, he removed to Mendon, MA, where he bought land on 29 Oct 1696; may have died in Cumberland(there is one account saying so) 2. In 1737/1738 Jacob Bartlett gave land to sons Jacob Bartlett Jr. and Joseph Bartlett. 3. No birth dates or places were on Quaker records.

Second wife Abigail Tucker, one acount says, she is the daughter of Joanna, wife of Jacob Aldrich. Made a Will 8 February 1759, while living in Wrentham, MA.

He differed with Quaker Belief and was excommunicated 30 2 Mo 1741; He bought and sold much land. He fearlessly advocated what he believed to be right. He stipulated in a deed "There shall be no house of entertainment, nor any strong drinks sold upon the premises forever." Challenged Baptists & Quakers to argue doctrines. Said they preached doctrines of the devil. Wife was widow of Abraham Harding. QUESTION: Did they have any children?
