Israel Bartlett, his ggfather, Thomas Bartlett, his grandfather, Thomas Bartlett, his father, and Thomas Bartlett, his son, all combined the profession of law with occupation of farming. Many of their sons did also. These country squires were distinguished for their common sense and excellent judgment. Husb and wife had two sets of twins, Child #6 & Child #7 and Child #9 and Child #10.

Had been a farmer & lawyer; member of Christian Church; He was a Whig in politics. Israel (5) Bartlett, Thomas (6) Bartlett, Thomas (7) Bartlett and Thomas (8) Bartlett were all lawyers who also were farmers. Many of their sons were also. Thomas (8) Bartlett's Law Library is now in the possession of his son, Albert L. Bartlett. Child #2 was a lawyer, and a principal in a high school. Child #3 was a teacher; never married. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1872 with A.B. Degree and in 1875 with degree of Master of Arts. Took up profession of teaching. Began in 1872 in Sawin Academy at Sherborn, MA. From 1875 to 1882-was teacher in public schools of Bradford, MA. From 1882 to 1888 was sub-master of the Haverhill High School. He resigned to accept position of superintendent of public instruction in city of Haverhill. Filled that position until 1897. Resigned to devote all his time to literature and lecturing. From 1895 to 1897 was a lecturer on the English Language & literature in the NH summer normal school. In 1900 was lecturer at MA summer normal school-held at Martha's Vineyard. In 1901 lecturer in summer normal school of VA. He is author of several books. Mr. Bartlett is one of the leading authorities in educational matters in New England. Has a national reputation for books and addresses. A member of Mizpah Lodge, I.O.O.F. of Haverhill; Member of Worth Congregational Church; Trustee for many years of Haverhill Public Library; Chairman of the Haverhill Park Commission. In 1907 Mr. Bartlett donated to the City of Haverhill land upon which was built a school building at cost of $50,000. It was named the Albert L. Bartlett School.
He married Mehitable Ford 25 Aug 1805 . Mehitable Ford was born at Nottingham, Rockingham, New Hampshire Abt 1780 .
