They left England - because they wanted to escape the religious per- secution they were compelled to suffer in England. They settled in New England ( an original land proprietor.) 3. 1639 - of Braintree, Massachusetts.

In 1860 the place was occupied as a carpet factory.

Of Hingham and removed to Amesbury, about 1687, and lived in part of town - now known as South Hampton. 2. The Family tradition says Samuel had a second wife who was the mother of his youngest child, but there is no record of such a marriage. 3. On the final settlement of the boundary between New Hampshire and Massachusetts, that portion of Amesbury where Jewell's lived - fell to the former State and is now South Hampton. SOURCES: 1.
