In the New England Genealogical Register for 1848 reference in made to "Honest John Stow," who wrote a History of London, and who preserved by printing. The names of Battel Abbey Roll. Whether connected withNew England. John Stow- is not determined. 2. John Stow[e] Sr. -- with his wife and six children. [1] Sailed on the `Elizabeth' - arriving in New England on 17 May 1634. [2] Settled in Roxbury, Massachusetts - Where he was a `Freeman' on3 September 1634 and a proprietor in 1638. [3] John and son Thomas - were both made members of (Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company in 1638) [4] John was Deputy to the court (General Court) for two Sessions. [5] He was a teacher --- he died in Roxbury. 3. Thomas Stow[e] - Removed from Roxbury to Concord, Massachusetts by 1648 or earlier. he was admitted as freeman in 1653.
