NOTES:
1. Changed Surname from Stockton to Stocking when he came in a ship "Griffin" which landed in Boston 1633, he came with a Reverend Thomas Hocker, He located in Cambridge, MA. -- Family Tradition Says - He came from the West of England - and was deived fro a "Good Family" there.
2. George Came to MA about 1633, Had a house in Cambridge, MA situated on Southwest corner of Present Holyoke & Winthrop Street (1635) Was admitted Freeman in Massachusetts 1635.
3. George Stockton(Stocking) joined a company of colonists and settled in Hartford, CT in 1635. In 1636 he was among those first to receive distribution of land - he received 20 acres. A Selectman of Hartford1647. Surveyor of Highways 1654 and 1662, Chimney Viewer 1659; Excused from Military Duty 1660 (probably because of his age). His name is inscribed on a Momumental Shaft in the Old Centre Burying Ground of Hartford, CT - Erected by the City of Hartford in honor of there founders.
4. May 1670 George an 2nd wife Agnes - Separated to the Second Church of Hartford.
5. He left No Will - His Estate Amounted to ~257:09:00 - was divided among his children - Among this was A Bible, Sermon Book and Soectacles.
6. George Stocking died at a great age.
7. Second wife Agnes - may have been Agnes (Shatswell) Webster - wifown of Governor John Webster who died 1661.

NOTES:
1. Deacon Samuel Stocking - Came with his father to MA,they removed to Hartford, CT about 1650, Samuel removed with the first settlers to Middletown. Samuel's name appears as one of the three
signers of the Indian Deed of Middletown. He was the first Deacon in the Middletown Church - "Which was organized in 1668). He Samuel - was the representative from Middletown for the years of 1658,1659,1665,1669,1674, 1677, and 1681.
2. Samuel served in the King Phillips War - Probably as a Sergeant.
3. His house stood in Upper Middletown (which is now Cormwell).
4. Last Will and Testiment - All of his children are mentioned except Hannah (who we assume had died) - Leaving his land on the East side of CT River to his sons `George and Ebenezer', ~3 to his Pastor Reverend Nathaniel Collins; The inventory of his estate amounted to ~648:08:08.
