Husband Dolar Davis was Petitioner for the Grant of the town of Groton, 1656, one of the 20 of the Plymouth Colony who had lands granted to them at Concord, Mass, 1658. 2. Possibly died Jun 1696 Bennefield,Northampton,Northamptonshire,England NOTES: 1. Dolar Davis "The Immigrant' - Came to America with his wife and three children from the County of Kent, England. His brother-in-law Simon Willard camewith them. 2. Dolar was a selectman in Concord, Ma - The Selectmen managed the prudential affairs of the town laid outh the lands into lots and disposed of them to thefirst settlers. A Mr Thomas Hinckley was also a Selectman with him. Dolar's house stood not far from the water mill built by the first settlers on the spot where the present mill standsl. Back of Yellow sheet. (Information from Book #974.44c) Dolar Davis 1. Carpenter and Master Builder 2. Received first grant of land in Cambridge, MA (4 June 1635) others later 3. He removed to Duxbury, MA 5 August 1638-1639, was admitted a freeman and granted land there in 1640. 4. Was a resident of Barnstable, MA in 1643 and admitted freeman there 2 June 1646. 5. Held various public offices in Barnstable, including surveyor of highwayand constable. 6. He and his wife were dismisssed from the Duxbury Church to the BarnstabelChurch 27 August 1648. 7. In 1656 Dolar left the Ploymouth colony and returned to Massachusetts Bay, and purchased in Concord 150 acres with a house. 8. In 1666 he returned to Barnstable where he resided until his death. His will - Made on 13 September 1672 - (proved 2 Jul 1673) Mentions sons Simon and Samuel as already having their portions, Eldest son John and son-in-law Lewis and Mary his wife also daughter Ruth Hall. NOTES: Lieutenant Simon Davis - Born in the United States and settled in Concord,MA, His homestead was near his father's house, on a farm given to him by his father. 2. Lieutrenant Davis, was on of Captain Thomas Wheeler's troopers in expedition of 1675 to Nipmuck,Country, he took command and when the Captain was wounded. He reeived his commission as Lieutenant 2 July 1689. 3. Admitted a freeman 21 March 1699. 4. Made deputy to the General Court in 1689-1890-1892-1705. 5. Will proved 3 July 1713.
