William Pendleton WILCOX, COLONEL

                   NOTES FROM BACK:
William Pendletn Wilcox:
1. Soldier in War of 1812
2. Sheriff of Allegheny County, NY
3. He removed to Nunda in 1822
4. In 1831 - moved o McKean, PA
5. he became the Sales Agent for Benjamin and Andrew M. Jones -
(afterwards - the McKean and Elk Lan and Improvement Company
6. He naturally, became identified with many of the emterprises of that
section of the state
7. In 1835 - was elected to - PA house of Representatives (was elected
for 3 successive terms - surviving through Governor Ritner's
administration and the "Buckshot War")
8. He was elected to the Senate and in 1845 - to the speakership of that
body
9. In 1858 and 1859 - he was again - member of the House of Represent-
atives
10. He also served a term as Associate Judge
11. Latter part of his life - was spent on a farm at Williamville, McKean
County
12. Newpaper Notices of his death - speak of he's public services, purity
of his public and private life, his abilities, his generorsity, his
commanding appearance and the evenness of his cheerful, genial
disposition
