NOTES:  1. Stephen was a Republican (until he was age 21). Lived in Rocky
              Hill.  Reared on his father's farm.
           2. Besides general farm work, he was extensively engaged in the making
              and sale of dairy products, and also one of the few successful
              tobacco growers in the town. Each year he cultivated from 5 to 7
              acres of this crop. Never an office seeker. Devout
              Congregationalist. At death, left a large estate.
           3. Wife, Ella F. WILLIAMS, as a widow, continued to live on the
              farm (where born and married).
           4. Lineage of Ella F. WILLIAMS - 3 generations occupied the old
              homestead.
