About 1890 they moved to Frontier County, Nebraska. When his 2nd wife Sarah Ann died, he moved to Illinois. He was a stout, robust active man - lived an active life - moved to Missouri - 3 years before his death - lost his eyesight totally blind and helpless. 2. Francis Peyton Bristow, had 18 children, 55 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. From obituary read at his funeral. 3. Sarah Ann Adcock (Covey) maiden name: Tully or Tilly, a widow with children. 4. Child: Sarah fell from swing in an old apple tree, broke his back and did not live very long. 5. Child: Edward married and died Curtis, moved to Canada. 6. Child: Orville moved to Canada, afterwards- Wash. state Girard. 7. Child: Charles moved to Canada. 8. Child: Richard died shortly after mother. 9. Mary Jones died 18 months after marriage. 10. Francis Peyton Bristo, grandfather of Julia J. Bristow. 11. When Sarah Ann died, Henry Clay Bristow was a baby and with some help of an aunt, James Jackson Bristow undertook to bring up his brothers while his father was farming. He felt his father should have married sooner so they would have had a mother and when his father did mary the third time if left James free to get an education. James loved his step-mother and their children called her "Aunt Sarah".

When his mother died, his brother Henry Clay Bristow was a baby and with some help of an Aunt, James Jackson Bristow undertook the job of bring up is brothers while his father was farming. He felt his father should have married sooner so they would have had a mother. When his father did marry the third time, it left James free to get an education. James loved his step-mother and his children called her "Aunt Sarah." Educated at Shurtleff College - Alton, Illinois. Developed throat ailment, told to move to dryer climate. He and his wife moved to Fairview, Kansas (ailment continued). They moved to Superior, Nebraska, he retired fro active pastoral duties and settled in Edgar, Nebraska. While there he served as temporary pastor for several small church, without moving his family. He finaly, on 20 November 1908 - moved the family to Lincoln Nebraska - made their home at 3041 North Street - It is still the home of his widow. During the years of his ministry - he baptized 1500 persons- yet he felt his work for the Savior was not finished - he found a need for a Sunday School Teacher at the State Penal Institution. Not only did he go there on Sunday, but many times during the week, talking with men. During the 14 years of his service there. 300 men were paroled to his care, and all "made good." For more than 30 years before his death, he suffered with siatica rhuematism. It caused one limb to be a little shorter than the other making it necessary for him to walk with a cane. He suffered silently and whent about the master's work climbing stairs at the Penal institution and calling on men in business to find places for his parolies, sometimes finding a man he felt needed education in christianity and calling as a pastor would, try to help him find God. (Your compiler found these things after her father's death, as these men came to pay their respects.) He loved poetry, and one of his favorite poems was "Let Me live in a House by the side of the road" and "Be a Friend to Man". At age 23 - he joined the Masonic Lodge and stayed in it all his life. Politically, he was a Democrate. He did a great work in the cause of Temperance - really it was total abstinance. His untiring efforts for this cause brought many results. 2. Educated at Shurtleff College- Alton, IL. developed throat ailement told to move to dryer climet. 3. James met Sarah as he served the Baptist church in Berlin Il. 4. Sarah Douglass, Baptist Church honored her for 80 years of Sunday School teaching. Still alive in 1960. 5. Child: Julia Jessie Bristow, compiler of this book, married but didn't give husbands name, divorced, her name restored. Had no children. She apparantly was so unhappy about her husband she was not going to remember him an doesn't want anyone to know who he is.
