NOTES: 1. John Bristow, ran away from home at age 16, (home being Middle-
            sex County, Virginia).  Lived with relatives in Stafford County,
            Virginia.
         2. He owned land in Washington County, Virginia as early as 1783
           and in that part which became Tazewell County. Tax lists also
           show his son's James paying taxes, Isaac married Margaret Hanna
           paying taxes and having son's James, Isaac and John.

         3.  His will probated in Russell County, Virginia 13 August 1801 &
            dated 1 Jun 1801 speaks of four sons, but the word is italicized
            and it is believed he included his wife meaning four devise's in-
            tending the wife to take a childs part and had children.
         4. He owned land in Washington Co, VA. as early as 1783 & in that part
           which became Tazewell Co, VA. tax lists also show his sons James
           paying taxes. Isaac (md. Margaret Hanna) paying taxes & having sons
           James, Isaac, John.

NOTES: 1. In 1805 moved to Kentucky, in 1812 moved to Tennessee.
            James is said, to have been a Private in Captain John Mitchell's
            Company, Virginia Volunteer's, in the Revolutionary War.

         2.   6 August 1827, in Cumberland County, Kentucky- His land on
             Walfe River.  We find - "James Bristow's heirs to ________
             Friend, namely James Bristow and Polly his wife; Elijah &
             Susannah, his wife; Wm Miller & wife Sarah (nee Bristow);
             Isaac Massey & his wife Elizabeth (nee Bristow); Wm Asberry &
             his wife ,late widow of James Bristwo, Wm Asberry, guardian to
             infant heirs"  Isaac, Susannah, & Westley O. Bristow - 200
             acres on Walfe River (Book #F (p.243)
          3. There was an Elkins family in Stafford Co. and then in Henry Co VA.
            and later in Washington Co, VA. this may be the same family.
          4. Child: Betty moved back to Cumberland KY.

NOTES: 1. Isaac Bristow, moved to Logan County, Kentucky. - In 1814 - He
            was the executor of the estate of Barnabas Bristow, who died in
            the War of 1812. In 1830 he was living in Vigo County, Indiana,
            with Isaac, John, John & James Bristow, Probably his son's (1830
            U.S. census).
            In the County Records Isaac is lister as - land owner- miller -
            surveyor.
         2. Did Julia J. Bristow make an error? same names & order of John 3
           sons. She used M.E. Bristow records also (did she misunderstand? or
