He graduated from Yale College 1740, taught school 1741-1748; ordained 1744; chaplin 1744-1747; preached at Simsbury 1747-1750; at Kinernook, New York 1749 at Tyringham, Massachusetts in 1750-1784 3. Discrepancy on spelling of 1st wife's surname Colton or Cotton 4. 2nd Wife Jemima Devotion - the Devotion were a Huguenot Family - their is a pedigree of this family which goes directly to Charlemagne through William the Conqueror and a line of English Kings fro several generations. Her mother Naomi Taylor daughter of Reverend Edward Taylor and Ruth Wyllys 5. 3rd wife Ruth Kent married second Reverend Jonathan Judd of Southhampton , as his second wife, he died 1815, at which time she resided with her brother Captain Kent of Suffield.

Adonijah Bidwell served in the Revolutionary War and was also a member of Massachusetts Assembly. 2. the Adonijah and wife Melicant and family moved from Monterey, Ma to Hillsdale, NY - about 1826 and bought a 36 acre farm. Son Alfred Gilbert, left home to seek work, he was a hotel clerk in New York city for several years, then went to North Carolina to the Gold Mines. He returned to Hillsdale in 1832 and bought his parents farm, settled down got married and went seriously into farming. 3. Discrepancy on spelling of wife's first given name Melicent or Mellicent or Millecent?

Barnabas Bidwell of Monterey -lived at Stockbridge,MA - Treasurer - Berkshire - Attorney General of Massachusetts - In Congress - from Massachusetts - Had difficulites with the Bank. 2. He gradcuated from Yale 1785, Tutor at Yale 1787 to 1790. In 1792 he was a member of Connecticut Society of promotion of freedom, was a Playwright - studied Law - admitted to the Bar - 1791 - Originally a staunch Federalist - He gradually modified his views and emerged as a strong Jeffersoniap Republican. Be became a target for abuse by opponets. Accused of theft while Treasurer, he went to Canada. He hoped to build a new reputation - It failed. (His son had same problem) 3. He died and is buried in Kingston, Plymouth, MA - his wife Mary Gray Bidwell is buried at the Sedgwick Cemetery in Stockbridge, Berkshire, MA
