He cleared 2 acres and started building a home. He finished it 7 Apr 1788, ending up with several hundred acres. In Feb 1788, he returned to Canaan, CT and took his family to VT. Town meetings were held in his home for years. He was a man of sterling worth, was very active and industrious, improving all the land he took up. He was also very tall and well proportioned with keen dark eyes. 2. George Harvey Bidwell was a Revolutionary Soldier at Ticonderoga, NY.
