Reverend John Woodbridge I, was educated at Oxford by his Uncle the Reverend Thomas Parker of Newbury, a noted New England Minister. 3. notations from the Book Ancestral Records and Portraits [a] He had studied at Oxford [b] He Came to New England in 1643 with his Uncle the Reverend Thomas Parker [c] He was Town Clerk from 1634 to 1638 - of Newbury,MA [d] Surveyor of Arms - 1637. [e] Taught school in Boston 1643. [f] He was one who negotiated the purchase of land from the Indians where Andover, NH was built. [g] He was First Minister in Andover, New Hampshire - (one of earlist ministers ordained in New England) [h] He returned to England in 1647; but returned and served as Asst. to his Uncle Thomas Parker (Dissensions in the church and he was dismissed from that office) [i] Later he held local offices [j] 1683-1684 - was an Assistant of Massachusetts Colony.
