Edward Corless received his Patriarchal Blessing 13 August 1840, By Patriarch Peter Melling In Langton, England (information obtained from Early LDS Church Information files) 2. He belonged to 17th Quorum of Seventy.
NOTES: 1. In 1876 Thomas Corless became First Counsellor to Bishop Sperry of the 4th LDS Ward(______). He held that position until poor health causede him to resign in 1897. 2. During "the Utah War" - - Thomas and Eliza had to leave the valley when Johnson's Army came. They made their home at Cedar Forks. She had several experiances with Indians at that time- - she gave them food. When the trouble with Johnson's Army was over - - they returned. he had to stay in Salt Lake and wait for Johnson's Army. He was to help (using a torch) set fire to the homes if Brigham Young felt that they would have to do so. He was fortunate that Johnson's Army moved quietly through the valley. 3.Corless and nellie Wilcox have the Patriarchal Blessings of Thomas Corless and Eliza Crowther. Both blessings were given on 31 March 1897 by Patriarch John Smith. 4. (Note) On 28 July 1965, Nellie Called the Genealogy Library abouth the birth date of Eliza Crowther, she always bragged she was born on 29 February (a leap year). however 1838 is not a leap year However in her own handwriting - she wrote her birth date as 28 February 1836 at the time of her baptism in 1846. whe she was endowed - 4 September 1855 - she signed her birth as 28 February 1836, but when she was sealed to Thomas Corless on 7 August 1857, she signed her birthdate 29 February 1838. It seems she changed it herself. (The church sayus the family should make our records on 28 February 1836 - - the original date - - as they have done. 5. Thomas - - - in Early LDS Church information file - says Baptized in 1842 and confirmed by Jospeh Smith 1842. he was Baptized by Sloan. He was ordained 11 jan 1877 by David O. Calder (note) Corless and Nellie haved the Patriarchal Blessing of Mary Ann Corless (Wilcox) and her husband Walter Sidney Wilcox. 6. Ten days after Eliza Crowther and Thomas Corless were married, Thomas went on a Mission among the Indians in Idaho. their son Thomas was born while his father was on his mission.
NOTE: 1. Randolph Cemetary Records have child #7, Robert, dying on the 18, August, and Child #9 Clifford - born 15th July died 21 May.
