      1. Charles Carroll came back to America at age 28.
      2. Charles Carroll signed the Declaration of Independance.
      3. Charles Carroll was an only child.
      4. Charles Carroll was son of Charles Carroll, the founder, his mother Elizabeth Brooke died March 1761.
      5. Mary Darnall and Charles Carroll were cousins.
      6. They had 7 children (not listed) 4 of them died in infancy.
      7. There was such a large number of Charles Carrolls at one time in ColonialMaryland that people gave them titles in order to differentiate among them.
      8. "The Maryland Carrolls descended from the Carrolls of Ely O'Carroll, Kings County Ireland".
      9. Charles Carroll- the founder, arrived in Maryland at age 28 on Oct. 1, 1688. He left Ireland to escape persecution of Roman Catholics only to find a similar situation in this country.
      10. He was educated in France and England and bore a commission of AttorneyGeneral, in his pocket was a Judge and Register of Land Office in Ireland.
      11. His estate- 13,000 acres and had 300 negro slaves, his home was known as"Carroll Mansion".
