He was later a Colonel in the State Militia. He was called "Colonel Henry Clay of Bourbon", to distinguish him from Henry Clay, of Ashland, in Fayette Co., to whom he was 2nd cousin", as he was alsoto Cassius M. Clay & Brutus Clay. He was in State Senate in 1820-21. Descendants of Col. Henry Clay of Bourbon have been large landowners in the vicinity of Paris, in Boubon Co.
