Conquerors of the West: Stalwart Mormon Pioneers
By Florence C. Youngberg, National Society, Sons of Utah Pioneers

Samuel and Lydia were baptized in October 1838, while they were with the saints in Nauvoo. They suffered the persecution of the early days of the Church in Nauvoo.
Samuel built his home with a well in the middle because of problems with the Indians. He had a 20-acre farm, which was irragated by a mountain stream. He also raised chickens and pigs. They remained active in the church all their lives.
