    John Wesley was born John Wesley Mitchell in Mississippi, left there for  Saline Co. after a duel at the age of 16 or 17.  He had enough education to teach school in both Galatia and Hamburg Illinois.  His father owned a plantation somewhere in Mississippi, employing more than 30 negroes.  This information from a letter from G.M.Wesley dated 12/14/79.
