NOTES:
    John was deprived of a father. When about 1 yr old was bound out by his widowed mother, to a Mr. Abbott in Exeter, NH. His mother remarried and removed to Canada, and thus his training and early education was intrusted to strangers. He, however, by dint of perserverance and hard labor, succeeded in obtaining a moderate education. Child #4, Eben, unmd;
