In 1869, George Henry worked as a wharf labourer NOTES: Extract from Beryl GRAY's father's letter dated Dec 1971 "Grandad George Henry Bryant had a good business in Cardiff as a Baker until the big Dock Strike. This caused a lot of trouble. People went into debt and didn't pay him so he couldn't pay the millar who supplied the flour. He could not collect debts from 90% of his customers. He sold the house, the shop and the Van and paid the millar what he could. They moved to Dowlais. My father says he had seen him come home and cry over his books. There was so much money owed him. He had two uncles, both Bakers, had the same thing happen to them. There's alot I could tell you, but not now." BIRTH: 15/18 Feb 1869
